Calling the Skies

There is a legend about an Inuit civilization that once remained warm and temperate in otherwise freezing temperatures by performing a Calling of the Skies. One priest would remain in the center of town performing a guiding prayer, and making requests on behalf of the village for things like good hunting, warm weather, long life, etc. Another priest would conduct a ritual at the same time in the wilderness, making bloody offerings to the sky god, Torngarsuk. If the offerings were worthy, those two rituals performed together would create a stream of energy that would pour from the wilderness to the center of town, where the guiding priest would cast powerful spells on the whole village.

Some of the symbols involved in this ritual were painted on the walls of the Roost the day Tyson August tried to burn it down and kill the incoming freshmen class. Campus maintenance staff have since wiped off the symbols, which were apparently made with some kind of sticky clay rather than paint.
